Public webboard and website embed

Publish approved requests on the web, embed the board on your website, and link back into your app.

The public webboard shows the approved requests from your app on a web page. Visitors can read them and vote without an account. Each app's board is off until you publish it.

Publish the board

Anyone with the link can read the titles and descriptions of approved requests, so check them before you publish.

  1. Open your app from Apps and select Settings.
  2. Under Public board, turn on Publish board. The change saves right away and you see Board published.
  3. Copy the Board URL or open it with the button next to it.

The board URL is /p/PROJECT_ID. A link to one request adds ?request=REQUEST_ID. Pending requests never appear on the board.

The board has the same three tabs as the app: New (including planned requests), In progress and Done. Request pages show the vote count, the status and the comment thread from the app, with your replies marked Developer. The board uses English or German, depending on the visitor's browser. Add ?lang=de or ?lang=en to force one.

To take the board down, turn off Publish board. The board and its request links stop working right away.

Embed it on your website

Open Embed on your website under Public board and copy the code. Paste it into your site's HTML. It contains the board URL, no API key.

<iframe id="featurama-board" src="https://featurama.app/p/PROJECT_ID?embed=1" title="My App feature requests" width="100%" height="600" loading="lazy" style="border:0;display:block" referrerpolicy="no-referrer"></iframe>
<script>
window.addEventListener("message", function (event) {
  var frame = document.getElementById("featurama-board");
  if (!frame || event.source !== frame.contentWindow || event.origin !== "https://featurama.app") return;
  if (event.data && event.data.type === "featurama:height") frame.style.height = event.data.height + "px";
});
</script>

The embed has a transparent background and no page title, so it fits into your page. The script resizes the iframe to the board's height, so the frame never shows its own scrollbar. Without the script the iframe keeps the height you set. The embed stays light. Add &theme=dark or &theme=auto to the iframe URL to change that.

If your site sets a content security policy, add the Featurama host to frame-src.

Voting

Each browser gets a random token per board, stored in local storage. One token has one vote per request. Browser votes count toward the same totals as votes in the app. When a browser blocks storage in iframes, the token lasts until the page reloads.

Open requests in your app

Set App deep link under App links to a link your app handles. Featurama accepts https:// links and custom app schemes such as myapp://. Use {requestId} and {projectId} as placeholders:

myapp://feedback/{projectId}?request={requestId}

On phones, request pages then show Open in app. A template without {requestId} also shows the button on the board itself. Add &openApp=1 to a board link to show the button on other devices too. The board never opens the app on its own.

Your app has to handle the link. Register the custom scheme in the app, or set up iOS Universal Links and Android App Links for an https:// link. Test on a phone with and without the app installed.
