Approval and review

Review incoming requests, approve feedback, and decline requests without deleting them.

Use Inbox to review incoming requests across your apps. The number next to Inbox in the sidebar shows how many requests wait for review. Use Requests to track requests after review.

How it works

Requests submitted from a mobile app through the SDK start as Pending review. The normal mobile request list hides them from other users. The submitter can see their pending request when the app recognizes the same submitter identifier.

Requests created in the dashboard or through an agent are approved automatically. Approval and status are separate: Pending review describes whether you have reviewed a request, while Requested, Roadmap, In progress, Done, and Declined describe its status.

Pending review is not a privacy control. Do not put private information in requests or comments. Comments can be read by clients with the app's project key and request ID, including while the request is pending.

Approving requests

Approval makes a request eligible to appear in the normal mobile request list and enables further voting.

  1. Open Inbox and find the request under its app name. Select an app's name to collapse or expand its group, or Open app to go to that app.
  2. Select the request's row or title to open it. The panel shows the description, the comments, and Waiting for your review.
  3. Select Approve in the panel, or in the request's Inbox row.
  4. Look for Request approved. The request leaves Inbox and keeps its existing status.

When nothing is left to review, Inbox says Nothing to review and links to all requests.

You can also open an app from Apps. Its Requests tab lists pending requests in their status group with a pending icon. Open one and select Approve.

Choosing a status for a pending request from its status icon in the app's Requests tab also completes review. This includes Declined, which keeps the request hidden from the normal mobile list instead of publishing it there.

After approval

  • Requests other than Declined can appear in the mobile list. Which ones a user sees still depends on the filter they pick in the mobile app.
  • Users can vote on the request. Further voting is unavailable while it is pending.
  • Find the request in Requests, in the group for its status.

See Manage feature requests to update progress or mark work done.

Auto-vote

Every new request starts with one vote from its creator, including pending mobile submissions and requests created in the dashboard or through an agent. That initial vote does not mean the request has been approved.

Declining requests

  1. In Inbox, open the request to review it.
  2. Select Decline in the panel, or in the request's Inbox row.
  3. Look for Request declined. The request leaves Inbox.

Declining keeps the request and its discussion, but hides it from the normal mobile list. It does not leave the request pending. To decline an already approved request, move it to Declined in Requests or choose Declined under Status in its panel.

To reconsider it, open Requests, expand Declined, and move the request to Requested. It remains approved and does not return to Inbox.

Email notifications

Featurama attempts to email the app owner when a new SDK request arrives, if the service can send mail. A saved request does not depend on email delivery. Check Inbox even if no email arrives.

Changing a request's status, including declining it, notifies the submitter if the request has an email address. Approval without a status change does not. A developer reply also sends an email and works while the request is still pending. Pending requests are never linked through the public webboard. See Reply emails.
